@TheDragon ๐ฅ I've successfully avoided Amazon since January 2020. It's not as convenient as getting everything very fast from one place but I've found plenty of other places to get things from.
I'm finding that just about any place that has a "marketplace", where third parties can sell their own stuff through what looks like a single vendor, seems to get stuffed with crap very quickly, some of which doesn't even exist and others are cheap rubbish. Sometimes they use tricks of the platform to make themselves look cheaper/better than they are, like for example I've been seeing stuff on ebay where there are options for size/colour/etc, they'll add something like a "SIM eject tool", about the cheapest tool possible, as one of the "size" options just so that they get listed first when you sort by price.
I can only imagine when they figure out how to use generative models to produce listings (or do a better job of it than now) we'll find ourselves even less able to actually locate anything worthwhile.

I have 2 close friends (one of whom wrote the letter) and a trusted acquaintance from my activist circles who all work part time, but rely on PIP to do so. None of them will now be eligible for it or the benefits that arise from being eligible for PIP.
In each case medical consultants have said they are not able to carry out full time workโฆit would damage their health and one has been told explicitly it would put them in hospital. NHS will be hit badly by this cruelty
But how are they supposed to carry on living their lives on thousands of pounds less a year? What corners are ministers expecting them to cut? Food, heating, transport?

it wouldn't be so bad if they at least all used the same app, but I literally have 5 different parking apps now, and they're all terrible!
Be careful with the code scan ones, too. Super easy for people to cover the QR with a sticker that points to their own dodgy app you're then entering card details in. Best to just search the app store to make sure you're downloading the proper one!
The party was a great success. The princess listened with fascination as a dragon and a librarian were discussing storage and organizing of books.

It went through a spare of "on startup, hang for 5 mins" then cleared. Oddly when I bought a new m.2 in case it was the drive
Now it's started again.
But not at this boot.
It's weird o.< I can stream data in and out of that drive at m.2 speeds usually. Just at startup, something is pushing a massive 4 MB/s and utilising /all/ of the drive. No reads. And can't see anything that could be doing it. As by the time process explorer has managed to launch.... It's stopped

Hank Green put out a pretty good video about the whole "dire wolf" situation with Colossal Bioscience. He talks about the good, and the bad of the situation. In short similar to what I speculated yesterday, these are not dire wolves, they're modified gray wolves. Gray wolves aren't the closest living relatives to dire wolves. And that while this is neat, and the research may be useful elsewhere they haven't "de-extincted" anything.
