A company will never be loyal to you.
Once worked at a Big Data analytics startup. Made a domain specific language for them to do very big batch jobs. It wasn't on traditional databases so couldn't just do queries.
Late one day at work, people came up, "Ed, you have that way to automate big jobs on data sets. We need you to do something."
They were processing records on people for a potential big client. The meeting to show what we could do was the next day. They had records on millions of people.
They needed help because they marked millions of people in their records as deceased.
So stayed late, ran them through how to use the language. Things were working, so left when it was after midnight.
Some time later was the first annual review, got a glowing review. That same day was then escorted by a manager to HR. Got fired.
Said literally just now got a glowing review. Asked what exactly was the reason for firing. HR person made something up about wasn't a culture fit.
So you can save a company's ass by bringing millions of people back from the dead, and they'll still toss you aside.
I think I've asked here before but I'll ask again, does anyone know of a union that would be suitable for a self-employed internet service provider with no employees to join? Also, any idea what kind of help they would be able to provide to such a member?
Did you know that porn addiction isn't a thing?
"If the concept of pornography addiction were true, then porn-related problems would go up, regardless of morality, as porn use goes up. But the researchers didn’t find that. In fact, they cite numerous studies showing that even feeling like you struggle to control your porn use doesn’t actually predict more porn use. What that means is that the people who report great anguish over controlling their porn use aren’t actually using more porn; they just feel worse about it.
Having moral conflict over your porn use (PPMI) does turn out to be bad for you. But that's not because of the porn. Instead, higher levels of moral conflict over porn use predict higher levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and diminished sexual well-being, as well as religious and spiritual struggles. In one study by Perry and Whitehead, pornography use predicted depression over a period of six years, but only in men who disapproved of porn use. Continuing to use porn when you believe that it is bad is harmful. Believing that you are addicted to porn and telling yourself that you're unable to control your porn use hurts your well-being. It's not the porn, but the unresolved, unexamined moral conflict."
TL;DR: Porn addiction isn't a thing, and if you feel harmed by it, you can get help but you're not addicted to porn, you just have something else going on.
Enjoy being horny and enjoying yourself, just know that porn isn't inherently addictive like heroin.
EDIT: I don't know how to say that I'm using heroin as a *metaphor* for how *prudes and conservatives* use view both drugs and pornography. That they are both the same in their eyes, not mine. They don't rally around gambling being a vice as much as natural existence.
Research finds that porn-related problems are predominantly caused by religious conflict. Clinically, this means people need help, but not necessarily with the porn.David J. Ley Ph.D. (Psychology Today)

In today's blog post for @kentikinc, I team up with @jobsnijders of Fastly to review the latest RPKI ROV adoption metrics in light of a major milestone:
For the first time in the history of RPKI, the majority of IPv4 routes in the global routing table are now covered by ROAs. #BGP

Normal thoughts like "it's a good thing I'm a millennial trans woman so I know how to configure nginx for a reverse proxy with ssl so my friends and I can play RPGs on my digital ocean droplet."
I could add that (at least some) gen X cis men are also capable of configuring nginx, but we're so tired all the time we never get round to it. 🙃 😝 🤗
Trans girls get stuff done. 💪

Nothing warms my heart more than another website picking up the idea "Detect Missing Ad-blocker" of https://stefanbohacek.com/project/detect-missing-adblocker-wordpress-plugin/ (after seeing it on mine in action).
It's made for WordPress but the idea is so dead simple that it can be integrated in almost anything with some work (if nobody else did that work already :D)
Edith says: This is blowing up. I have no Soundcloud (:P) but @stefan has a Support My Work page at https://stefanbohacek.com/support-my-work/ suggesting organizations to donate to 🫡
If you find any of my work useful, please consider donating to some of these organizations and causes: Thank you!Stefan Bohacek (stefanbohacek.com)

Peaceful protest? That’s going too far. Send in the riot gear.
