I think I've asked here before but I'll ask again, does anyone know of a union that would be suitable for a self-employed internet service provider with no employees to join? Also, any idea what kind of help they would be able to provide to such a member?

Unions boost their members’ wages by 10-15%.

In fact, union contracts negotiated last year secured the highest average first-year wage increases since tracking began in 1988.

This is why we must continue the fight to build back union power.

I think that comes under the Communication Workers Union

@Renby ΘΔ 🏳️‍⚧️ Hmm, I suppose it would, thanks. That page makes me think it's for self-employed people who drive a delivery van, though - I could well be wrong. I still have a hard time imagining a union could actually do anything useful for me, but I just don't feel I have any real way to tell. The site doesn't seem to say much. If I try the "join" form, you can't even get past the first page without giving personal data, so... that makes me disinclined to deal with them. I suppose I could just keysmash each field to get to see what else they ask. Okay, just done that, and they don't even have "self-employed" as an option on the "who do you work for" question. The only matching option is "sub-postmaster (self-employed)"! The whole thing gives off "not for me" vibes. I guess all I can do sometime is try to actually contact them and ask a person.

@twll :yikes: Thank you, interesting. Looks like they are for "professionals" rather than specificaly the self-employed but at least their joining form actually offers an option for self-employment right at the start. Worth a look — thanks.
