I can't remember anyone's pronouns on Fedi for the life of me. I have an absolutely terrible memory. But I ALWAYS look at someone's profile to find out their pronouns when I need to use them.

It takes a minimum of decency to just check for pronouns listed on someone's profile if you're not sure. There's rarely an excuse for getting them wrong on Fedi.

Granted, some folks don't post their pronouns, and in that case I use "they". But it's always good to check. You don't want to accidentally ruin someone's day by misgendering them!

Do me a favor.

Quit making fun of people (of any age but especially kids) who ask genuine questions.

I have to pull questions out of adults now because at some point someone made fun of them for being curious.

It's not embarrassing to learn, you shouldn't feel guilty for thinking of a question and asking an expert.

You should feel happy that you are still curious about the universe.

Make learning a positive experience? Please?

Some reminders you may need:

Body:
โค๏ธ Stretch.
๐Ÿงก Look away from your screen to a point as far away as you can for a good 30 seconds.
๐Ÿ’› Drink something hydrating. It doesn't have to be water; I'm not your mother.
๐Ÿ’š Take your meds if you need to.
๐Ÿ’™ Have a snack if it's been a while.
๐Ÿ’œ Get some sleep if you need it.

Mind/Emotions:
โค๏ธ Research a topic you love. It will help you learn something new and give you a brain-boost!
๐Ÿงก Give or receive a hug. Plushies or pillows work if nobody is available!
๐Ÿ’› Send someone you love a nice message. It will make both of you happy!
๐Ÿ’š Wear something comfortable and get comfy in your favorite space with your favorite media to relax. This is important! Please do take breaks when you need them!
๐Ÿ’™ Think about all the things in your life that you appreciate.
๐Ÿ’œ Remember how loved you are by so many, and realize you deserve that love.

And finally, some
Affirmations:
โค๏ธ You are cute, handsome, beautiful and/or gorgeous.
๐Ÿงก There will always be someone out there who is proud of you.
๐Ÿ’› You are far more powerful than you even realize. Think about how far you've come, and remember your efforts that got you here!
๐Ÿ’š You are perfect even with the traits you perceive as flaws. They are part of you right now. Maybe they won't always be, but you are still amazing the way you are. Anyone who loves you agrees with me.
๐Ÿ’™ There will always be a silly blue fluffdragon who loves and adores you.
๐Ÿ’œ Your weirdness makes you awesome. Those who love you do so because you're weird!

Remember I believe in you. Remember to believe in yourself, too. You've got this. Just don't forget to take breaks too!!

Much love and many hugs, if wanted!

This explosion in CEO pay relative to the pay of average workers isnโ€™t because CEOs have become so much more valuable than before.

They've just gamed the system to line their pockets.

This is who cops are. This is who the State is.

This isn't some anomalous occurrence due to the happenstance of a protest. They are like this 24/7/365, lying, cheating, brutalizing, doing everything they can to stay in power, and that's why they must be dismantled.

There is a better future ahead. If their rule was just, they wouldn't have to expend so much effort to maintain it.

Hold to hope! We *will* take back our planet.

Phew, that's been needing to be done for quite a while. Bike chain maintenance done for now. Cleaned, adjusted, lubed. Now all I need to do is ride it. (Tomorrow, hopefully!)

The chain was quite loose, needed 3ยฝ flats on the adjuster nuts. I haven't done that in years. I've been riding it so little the last few years though, I've not really needed to do the chain before the annual service takes care of it anyway. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

If you are the tech-savvy person within your family or friends group :blobcatcool: :

Never ever shame someone for coming to you for advice after being the victim of a scam, malware, or for using an unsecure product.

If you do this,
they might never come back to you later. They might just feel so ashamed they will just stay alone with their tech problems.

Instead, always tell them:

1. It was a good idea to come to you with this. Be empathetic with them ๐Ÿ’š

2. Give them advice on how to minimize the damage now. Actionable advice ๐Ÿš‘

3. Help them harden their security for now and for the future. Recommend better products to them. But be careful not to overwhelm them with advice. One step at the time ๐Ÿ”’

4. Talk to them with respect and empathy. Tell them how the people who abused their trust are horrible and anyone can fall for the right scam. Remind them there are things to do to reduce the risks of being victimized again in the future, and help them slowly implementing these ๐Ÿ’ช

5. Be thankful they trusted you with this. It means they think highly of you ๐Ÿฅฐ

Would have loved to be the poll clerk to turn #Johnson awayโ€ฆVoter ID was his policy. But then he didnโ€™t abide by his Covid laws eitherโ€ฆ

Meanwhile #Sunak lies his arse off:

โ€œWe donโ€™t want to see anyone turned away from polling stations, we want everyone to be able to vote. Experience from the last local elections was that 99.75% of people were able to cast their vote successfully.โ€

Only voters who make it as far as the poll clerks desk get counted if no #VoterID.

@MaddieT @blabberlicious

I remember reading last year that the UKโ€™s new Voter ID restrictions were more draconian than any in the USโ€ฆthey are fundamentally designed to deter those under age of 30 from voting. Travel cards are allowed for senior citizens, but not young people. From working a polling station last year I can say that 3/4 of boomers used their bus pass as VoterID because they always carry it in their purse or wallet.

Juggling With Eggs mastodon (AP)

@MaddieT @blabberlicious

Tbh I was suprisedโ€ฆI assumed retirees would get out their driving licenses, but they overwhelmingly didnโ€™t. And these were the fit, sprightly onesโ€ฆassuming many others of this vintage used a postal vote. Which brings me to the point that if you wanted to rig an election, the postal vote would be the way to goโ€ฆbut no restrictions on ID when it comes to casting those, which again are the preference of the older generations.
