A breathtaking sunset Roni and I witnessed together on the pier of Mazatlan beach, a very beautiful moment full of some kind of strange serenity after days of chaos. It was a surreal culmination to a day that began with a spectacular total eclipse of the sun, marking a truly unforgettable moments in our lives.
I was in very depth emotion and gratitude to be able to be sharing not only moments like these, but a whole life with the one I can call now as my husband. Our journey together that last year we sealed as official on paper, but that we know how official it has been since over a decade.
We took pictures and videos of this sunset, because it was truly beautiful, but even with the technology of our phones that enhance pictures as we didn't even expect, all those photos from that day couldn't capture what we were seeing with our eyes, neither from the eclipse and neither from that sunset, this is the closest I remember that sunset, with these contrasting hues and all the clouds making a shape of colors over the sky.
Gift for Roni for our first anniversary.

It is so fucking insidious how Facebook in particular has tricked business owners into thinking a Facebook page or Instagram is a proper substitution for an actual website. There is a crochet designer I love, but she is ONLY on Meta products, which means I CANNOT SEE YOU BECAUSE I DO NOT GO THERE.
Fucking leaving money on the damned table because you refuse to make an actual site.
Bad business, that.
Edit: Oh, and all those product photos you post? Those don't belong to you anymore. They belong to Mark Zuckerberg.
2nd edit: My advice to my internet marketing clients hasn't changed in over 20 years. Build your site first. EVERYTHING ELSE EXISTS ONLY TO DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE.
NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
@indrora Indeed, I see why.
But if the person uploading does not have the copyright, then they can't grant facebook even those rights, no matter what facebook put in their contract, can they?
If someone else uploads one of my images to facebook, then the uploader *AND* facebook are in breach of *my* copyright, are they not?
DMCA Safe Harbor covers that elsewhere by making it required that you at least inform them of the infringement.
Facebook semi washes their hands in the terms of service (§2.1, specifically):
“You may not use our products to do or share anything…That infringes or violates someone else's rights, including their intellectual property rights (such as by infringing another’s copyright or trademark, or distributing or selling counterfeit or pirated goods), unless an exception or limitation applies under applicable law.”
Basically Facebook says “it’s not our fault if someone shares material they don’t own.”
The regular route to redress is suing the uploader, but dmca takedowns are how you handle this corner case where safe harbor applies. You can in some cases subpoena Facebook to fess up on contact information for a user, but that’s an entire chunk of law.
(…*at least in the US*; since Facebook is American, I’m using our laws)
Interesting, it's been a while since I did this. The answers haven't changed in a long time as I haven't been to a new (to me) furry convention since my first ConFuzzled in 2010! (But if you include comic cons, Feel The Force Day was a fraction further north.)

I blogged about Funkwhale, the way (and the why) I listen to music:
This is a well reported piece but the framing is bizarre.
When a mob attacks a group of protesters under cover of darkness, they are not counter-protesting.
And as the reporting makes clear, they didn’t “provoke” violence, they *perpetrated* it as the cops and campus security stood by. #media #fascism #gazaprotests
The New York Times used videos filmed by journalists, witnesses and protesters to analyze hours of clashes — and a delayed police response — at a pro-Palestinian encampment on Tuesday.Neil Bedi (The New York Times)
Is it normal in the US for police to stand by while violence is perpetrated under their noses?
The framing of this article is indeed weird…as a Brit, there are elements of the BBC style about it. Trying to put the odd point in to be notionally even-handed, but basically this a detailed account of state sanctioned violence against a group opposing its university’s investments and it’s country’s foreign policy…the F word indeed.
@JugglingWithEggs it’s common when they agree with the violent actors. Saw a lot of that around BLM.
I think it’s hard for people in other mature democracies to understand how politicized our cops are. Most live in RW media bubbles that are designed to keep people fearful and angry towards various out-groups. They often receive poor training and then enjoy a great degree of impunity.

It's an unspoken rule that you don't discuss the side effects of hyperjumps. In theory it's simple - you leave your universe and appear in another, the only major difference being that your ship is somewhere else.
We don't talk about minor changes.

Zander and Skylar building a pillow fort, not even realizing this is part of the journey of building a life together. Pillows and blankets representing moments, memories, and challenges.
The fort becomes their own sanctuary, a symbol of protection and unity in the middle of the chaos of the world. Some parts of the forts are unstable and weak, obstacles that will make them search for creative solutions.
Picture for Zander and Skylar.
Traditional. Watercolors and Colored pencils
Originally, this piece was going to be completely in watercolors, but when I sketched the concept, I imagined the characters in pencils, something that I thought I was not willing to achieve, since I still have an issue with the arm, and I've avoided to work totally with colored pencils because that technique demands to use many different levels of pressure with the arm and wrist, which would make the problem worse again. But at some point I needed to try again, colored pencils are my favorite traditional technique and I didn't want to lose it forever.
Using a wrist brace, with the help of my left hand for adding more pressure to some parts, and being very careful with it. It hurt a little, I had to make many breaks and stops, and definitely I can't do this very often, but I'm so happy it worked.

I like the idea of solar arrays (photovoltaic fields) creating micro-habitats for things like birds nesting.
I also heard (pardon the pun) about goat services, where instead of trying to meanauver lawn mowers through those, they just keep or bring in goats to munch on the grass, as well as growing crops that prefer partial shade under them. #photovoltaic #greenenergy
did you know that the default Windows 10 desktop background is a photo, not a digital effect?
it's a Kvant Spectrum laser projector with Saturn 9000 scanners beaming light into a sheet of transparent acrylic with black cardboard masks.
there's even a short video showing an animated show variant of it here: https://www.precisionlasers.com/projects/windows10

The Tad Strange phenomena may be one of the funniest fandom-related things to ever happen. It's such a good case study of how fandom processes information by wringing out whatever it is they desire from a show.
Basically what happened is there's a one shot joke character in Gravity Falls called Tad Strange, he literally only exist for one gag about how everyone in Gravity Falls is a tad strange, except for Tad Strange, who is if anything excessively normal.
They got Cecil Baldwin to voice him and he put the role on his resume before he was supposed to, leaking the name with no context. People asked about it on a reddit AMA and Alex Hirsh, at that point probably sleep-deprived and getting caught up roleplaying as Bill Cypher said something to the effect of "he's a real square, which is the dumbest shape to be" and from that comment and some other non-answers in the AMA, people constructed the idea of Tad Strange as this brother/counterpart to Bill who's a purple square in a bowler hat.
Then the episode aired and taken in context with all the speculation in the fandom, Tad Strange being revealed to be just a guy seemed like an intentional fuck you to the audience even though there's no way they could have possibly set that up deliberately.
The end result being that people got pretty mad at Alex for trolling them when Alex didn't really do anything except make a cryptic non-answer in an AMA dedicated entirely to cryptic non-answers that people took the wrong way.
Happy 50th Birthday, #TCP!

England, where politics and commentary is completely normal:
Reform got exactly zero seats, and the pundits can't stop talking about them.
the Greens got 159 seats, and no-one from the Greens is interviewed, and no-one on tv is talking about them or to them.
Has anyone met anyone who admitted to voting for Reform?
Meanwhile, I have a growing list of family, friends and work colleagues who have casually mentioned in conversation this week that they’ve voted Green or Lib Dems.
One bit of advice I was never given by my older relatives as I was growing up that I really wish they had given me, is the importance of cleaning out ears every now and then even if they are not gunked up.
Prevention is always better than cure. Use the ear-oil regularly folks.
#SadiqKhan Vows More Climate Action After London Mayor Win
“My determination to ensure #London leads from the front with world-leading climate action remains as strong as ever,” Khan said.
Khan secured a historic third term even as his Tory opponent spread lies over ULEZ, the policies she derides as "woke", & other right wing talking points.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan pledged to press ahead with “world-leading green action” after comfortably winning a historic third term, a result that will bolster expectations for a Labour Party victory in a general election later this year.Ailbhe Rea (Bloomberg)
TCP/IP 50th anniversary event…
This ought to be interesting (I will be attending). There will also be an online presence.
Quick tip...
If you have drilled a hole in the wrong place, paint around the outside of the hole with yellow paint, and the hole will get magically filled in.
Doesn't work for you ?
No, me neither, but our council seems to think this is the way to fix potholes.
