a) a desperate last minute stirring of the pot to galvanise their base to come out and vote for them
b) a considered strategic move to make anyone famous think twice about standing up as an ally to non-binary / trans people
I think it will backfire spectacularly on the #Tories because they have massively over played their hand, misread the situation and the national mood.

She said yes, quite a problem around the whole country, because the post office didn't know the election would be happening at this time of year, or something. I wish I could say that I raised the appropriate alarm bells during that period. I don't think I did. Eventually I got nervous about it and stopped doing it personally as better options arose. But we let a lot of people be led astray.

Yes, there was a time when politicians cohered around an ideology. They had ideological principles, a strategy and a plan to make for a better world…now they just respond to the 24hr news churn with whatever regurgitated culture war sound bite they can think of.
