Twitter taught me something. Any "For Profit" company is going to be a slave to its need for growth, its investors, and corporate greed.
BlueSky says “We don't want to be like that”. but they're also a for profit company that is going to end up a slave to their investors and their greed just like any other for profit company.
I don't feel like establishing myself there, just to have it all come apart in a few years like Twitter did. Because that's inevitable.
I don't like for profit companies either, but I think there's a big difference between generic corporate greed and what Twitter has become. It's not even going for profit anymore, just hate and influence.
I wish everyone would come to Mastodon, it's my favorite place, but I'll settle for tempting them to move to Bluesky if that's more realistic. Anything to get away from the dead bird site.

My Halloween: my sisters acquired a cute inflatable monster and a reflective witch picture for me to stick on the front of my house, and I acquired a bowl of sweets to leave out. My parents and I then visited my sisters for the afternoon/evening and when we got back about ⅔ of the sweets had gone! By my calculations that means at least 20 people took one. (Or more likely fewer people took multiple ones. 😛) And it didn't look like any local wildlife had had a go at them either, so that was good.
I went for a little spidey-walk too. Saw a few decorated houses, said happy halloween to a few people. 🙂

I tend to go with "If you say you don't need privacy because you don't do anything wrong, then you also indirectly claim you don't need free speech because you have nothing to say". Or think I'm a creep and weird when I ask them why they have their smartphones locked with biometrics then.
A few people started to ask why. Many were just thinking I was just being me and being "weird" again or "what do I need to hide from the government". At the same time, chat control is bad all of a sudden for those people. Although they claim to have nothing to hide.
Personal guess: Most will start to care about it when they get any personal negative experiences with what they share and all. But maybe I'm also a bit pessimistic there.

They use the argument they reached an age of 80 without hassles, because they dont provoke anyone, espically they have no need to do "weird things"
The same for their friends
