This happens every day.
Both my cat and I both prefer the big comfy office chair. If my cat gets to it first, I end up sitting on a tiny stool because I'm unwilling to disturb my cat.
However, my cat prefers my lap over the chair, so he inevitably jumps onto my lap.
Now, I can't stand and neither of us get the comfy chair, even though I would prefer it for comfort, and my cat would prefer to be in a higher spot on my lap.
In game theory, this is known as a Nash equilibrium, where no player benefits from changing things, resulting in everyone locked in place (even if there's a better overall strategy that benefits everyone).
Phone is like:
"Hey! We notice you're not backing your stuff (photos and documents and stuff) up to Google Drive / Google Photos...."
And I'm like:
"Correct."
Companies contract out small parts manufacturing, then big parts, then engineering and design, and only retain a "people and culture" organization that sits far from any factory, and before you know it you have two astronauts stranded in space and windows blowing our of planes because no one feels responsible for your overall product anymore.
IN-SOURCE YOUR ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, in-source your janitorial staff, in-source the people making food at the canteen, in-source your receptionist, in-source your IT support.
Every person working for a company should be working for that company.
You will have mid-term gains with outsourcing some functions, but in the long term, you will pay.
Stop listening to McKinsey telling you to outsource all that stuff. Their very business model relies on you outsourcing your brains. Ignore them.
"Next up, as it's revealed that the new CEO of Starbucks will have a thousand-mile commute in a private plane, we ask: how carefully are you rinsing your coffee cups before you put them in recycling?"

Introduction post
I'm Yeen Queen, a leftist, genderqueer, finsexual, furry and music enjoyer among other things.
I'd love to make friends here, I welcome anyone stopping by to say hi, despite being of the bone crushing hyena family I won't crush yours. Maybe.
Music I like is usually different types of rock, I love the punk rock aesthetics a lot.
This is the second instance I try and while I liked the other one I feel like a furry focused one would make it easier for me to meet people :)
When I got home today, after a couple of days at the old house, I parked the bike on the driveway and a couple of small fluffy persons came to say hello. Or, more precisely, one of them came to say hello, while the other one nearly did but then hid under a bush for ages, coming out only very briefly to tell the other one off and then go and hide again. I do like how they don't care that I'm in a full set of leathers, gloves, boots, with a blank black visor and no face, they just care if they get pettings. I do hope someday someone happens to walk past while this is happening and gets a surreptitious photo of a scary biker being affectionate to cats.
Also, I was busy yesterday and made four whole loaves of bread. Then I eated some.
Selomon found a tiny friend.
To the mouse, the skunk wasn't just a friend but a whole theme park of joy! Selomon’s fluffy tail becomes a liana, perfect for swinging.

Well this is a cool blog on designing content for transport displays

I love the trope of big evil bads that are also like, ideal employers. Having this massive industrial base of loyal minions who with like, full coverage medical, checking in on the rank and file after particularly high casualty encounters with the heros, liquidating the CFO when it comes to light that he tried to replace the pension plan with a 401k.
Like with acid.
You know, good boss shit.
One thing I'll say as far as switching to Linux... It's been a while since I did a Windows setup, and man are the two utterly different worlds.
Linux: "Hey, should we do third party drivers?"
Windows: "Hey, can I use your location data? What about stuff for advertising? What about your browser history? You know this would be more useful if we had your Microsoft login. Hey can we grab your browser history from Google?"
Dude.
What a fantastic view. 🌄
