Some years ago I came across a document written by, I think, someone with a name like "Kavaeric" or similar, with notes on building PCs, lists of decent parts in various categories, etc. I'm finding it really hard to find it again. No idea if it's been updated since last time I saw an update, which was near the start of the pandemic. Any ideas? Thanks :]
Kay Ohtie mastodon (AP)
despite the reputation of reddit, posting to r/buildapc or r/askbuildapc (or maybe a different one, check the sidebar cause there's a few of those subreddits in that broader community for various purposes) can help locate parts within a budget, genuinely. You'll get some people who price outside it, but there's many still there who genuinely want to help locate or plan.

@Kay Ohtie Thank you, but I've never used Reddit, beyond following links to threads there. I have little idea how it works. I could try creating an account and try it out, I suppose, I just have this weird fear/hatred/something of creating yet more accounts on yet more sites these days though. But thank you anyway! 🤗

A company paid a ransomware group.. then had their info leaked by the same ransomware group anyway. Not isolated at all, eg UnitedHealthcare paid $20m and then got extorted again by the same person.

Stop paying ransomware groups. You are directly funding serious organised crime. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/pandabuy-pays-ransom-to-hacker-only-to-get-extorted-again/

I feel like that's also technically a felony in the US? Like, funding organized crime by paying ransoms like that.

There is no way to reach out #NetZero by 2050 without addressing domestic property #retrofit. 20% of our carbon emissions are from homes heated by fossil fuels.

#Sunak is living in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks we can ignore retrofitting homes and delay getting off petrol/diesel fuelled cars.

Yes it costs. Not paying means complete #ClimateBreakdown and leaving us as a country in a very precarious state.

Other than the way humans seem to feel the need to "us and them" everything, I'm not sure there's any real *reason* for gender-segregated anything in the first place.

A friend just pointed out:

"ADHD creates impulse control issues and, consequently, advertising takes advantage of a disability. Ergo, ad blockers are assistive devices and interfering with their operation for commercial gain constitutes a willful violation of the ADA."

Let’s do this.

I'm fairly convinced that this is actually how it works. It would explain a lot about how folks with ADHD often express that they literally cannot use the web without an adblocker, whereas other folks often seem to be able to mentally ignore the ads.

That seems like pretty damning evidence that this is targeted disruption to ADHD folks.

If you have a broad church, you might not have a religion. Parties which say they are broad churches end up with factional infighting between what would be separate parties if it wasn’t a two party system. Proportional representation is the solution.

For years, we used to explain to folks that we experienced a phonological delay in processing speech or sounds, and that it was likely linked to us being autistic.

We only later worked out that we're actually AuDHD (inattentive ADHD and autistic) and that there's an actual medical term for this: auditory processing disorder.

If you're some flavour of neurospicy, you might have it too without realising. Common signs and symptoms include:

  • speaking louder or softer than is situationally appropriate;
  • difficulty remembering lists or sequences;
  • needing words or sentences to be repeated;
  • impaired ability to memorize information learned by listening;
  • interpreting words too literally;
  • needing assistance to hear clearly in noisy environments;
  • relying on accommodation and modification strategies;
  • finding or requesting a quiet work space away from others;
  • requesting written material when attending oral presentations; and
  • asking for directions to be given one step at a time.

It heavily overlaps with ADHD and autism :ADHD_Butterfly::AutismSymbol:

Hope this is helpful to someone :NeurodiversitySymbol:

It doesn't work like that. It's more like this:

"Do what you love and the industry will systematically destroy all joy you once found in it."
