If you're familiar with Weird Al, you may be familiar with the fun music video style of "Tacky", where a camera moves through a building and the video is smooth, done in (seemingly) one take.
I think I've found a video in that style that manages to beat that one. The choreography in the video I'm about to link is absolutely phenomenal and the song is catchy as heckie!
Let me know if you listen and/or watch the video, and if you liked it!!

Online communities that can act as safe spaces for the LGBTQ+, those with autism, those who have trouble socializing and so on, are always worth defending. Even if it's just a small group of friends.
Corporate internet will never do it right, we'll continue to do it ourselves.
Maybe tech wouldn't be so hard to learn if we didn't have to keep reinventing the wheel so as to reinforce gated fiefdoms.
Twenty years ago, you only needed to learn how your DVD or VHS player worked to play videos. Now, Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Disney+ and whatever else+ each have their own video players with their own quirks and UI models.
File managers got replaced by Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive all having different UIs for no apparent reason.
Similarly e-mail, messaging, etc.

The other day at work, in an online meeting, a fuckhead said the phrase “Well, it’s probably because she’s a woman and she doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about”, referring to an external contractor.
I’m not out, but I stopped the meeting and said “You don’t get to talk like that in front of me. Now, I have to call HR.”
There was laughter. To which I replied sternly, “It is not funny. Do better.”
There was no laughter then.
I don’t put up with that shit. Misogyny, any kind of trans- or queer- based phobia, racism. None. That’s how you ally - you speak up. You challenge the notion that these fuckers are in a safe place. You DO have power to create change. Be the voice for the voiceless.
Afterwards, two of the other attendees reached out to me to thank for my courage to stand up to one of the “cool kids”. I don’t need thanks, I need people to be better.
BE BETTER.
Solar Passes 100% of Power Demand in California
For 56 days in a row, electricity from solar, wind, and water (hydro) power has exceeded 100% of power demand on California’s main grid for part of the day. Also, going back further, that has been achieved in 80 out of the last 86 days. That is since early March (International Women’s Day), late winter.

Y'all have no idea how powerful the words "I was inspired by your stuff" are until you've heard them spoken to you.
It still blows me away when people tell me things I've made have inspired them to build their own worlds and lore.
I made fursuit slippers! For the first time! They're *rough* (and I need to smoothen out the edges) but honestly quite chuffed at myself given my crafting skills are terrible. These are technically a prototype so if I get the time before AC, will try to improve on the first attempt after a test run.
Downside is I basically have to relearn how to walk in fursuit with these on!
happy pride month!

I keep hearing people say AI generated text "will get better” as if that’s a known, accepted fact.
But it's not a known, accepted fact. Massive language model AI text generators have been around for YEARS, and they've always been this bad, this prone to lying, this full of shit. We’re just getting it shoved in our faces now.
“It will get better” is a bet, not a statement of fact, and I bet against it.
Google did not roll this out now because it was good, they rolled it out now because Bing did it first and they panicked. They also fired all the people who had been saying, no, it's not ready yet, even though those people were right then, and they're still right now.
And Bing only rolled it out because they had a search engine nobody gave a shit about and had to try something desperate because they need eyeballs to put ads next to.
Capitalism is why we're all seeing this shit now. Capitalism.
Me wearing clothes: Haha fuck yeah!!! Yes!!
Me having to wash, hang, take down and fold said clothes: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.
Can I keep this idea up for an entire month? A piece of queer music a day?
Today, it's Affirmation by Savage Garden. This was one of the first bands of my era saying something - anything - I could connect with this way in a time when Section 28 was well and truly embedded...
There are two lines in particular that stood out for me -
* "I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality"
* "I believe that trust is more important than monogamy"

You were dirty if you refused to live the way they dictated. You were dirty if you showed any form of opposition at all"

Ahh summer. The time of year when other countries have a go at the UK because 25-35 degrees "isn't warm!"
The issue I take with these statements is that A) you guys have A/C /everywhere
B) our houses are designed to keep heat /in/ and
C) it. Is. Not. Constant!
Temperature varies wildly.
Exhibit A) today my car reads 20 degrees.
Yesterday it was 12
The swings mean we can't acclimatise to more extreme temperatures o.<
I always forget to mention the temperature swings like that.
Usually when I do my yearly "please shut up" post I focus on the lack of AC as standard in society, the fact our houses are designed to get as much heat in as possible but not insulate it from keeping heat *out* (which we'd probably manage if we didn't have giant windows on everything :B) and that our average temperature range is around 10-20C for the year :V
Hmm, I feel I should make an offer like this too. I've been writing away at my dumb little kink ideas but I feel I might well be interested in trying to write something with more actual plot behind it, which is something I'm finding hard to come up with. Might anyone be interested?
Yesterday, the UK government used an obscure emergency process to make possession of puberty blockers for new treatment of trans kids illegal, and punishable by up to two years in prison. [1] There was no parliamentary debate, no vote, and no public consultation.
Parents of children on GIC waiting lists are being told by the NHS that if they don't bring their kids to an """assessment""" they risk being reported to Social Services.
The Good Law Project recognises that the NHS are behaving unethically, and is running a crowdfunder to seek urgent legal advice to challenge the NHS.
If you are looking for a good cause, the Good Law Project crowdfunder can be found here: https://goodlawproject.org/crowdfunder/nhs-cyp-guidance/

Edit to add: There is now a new crowdfunder from the Good Law Project specifically challenging the puberty blocker ban here: https://goodlawproject.org/crowdfunder/trans-pubertyblockers-cf/

On May 31st, letters went out from NHS England to parents of trans youth stating that they must immediately stop taking puberty blockers, and that possession will be considered a crime.Erin Reed (Erin In The Morning)

Kay Savetz took a leap of faith and bought dozens of master tapes for a lost radio show, with one of a kind interviews on them. He's seeking funds to pay a professional to digitize the tapes, and they all go on Internet Archive.
Douglas Adams, Bill Gates, Atari’s Jack Tramiel, MacPaint’s Bill Atkinson, Infocom’s Joel Berez, Star Trek’s Gene Roddenberry, musician Herbie Hancock, EA’s Trip Hawkins, Stewart Brand... they're all on here.

A happy start into the pride month!
Have the "stellar" Progress Pride flag I made last year from various NASA Astronomy Pictures of the Day!
And remember:
- "Queer" is not a slur (anymore - absolutely OK if you don't want it applied to yourself, though!).
- "LGB" is a dogwhistle put in place by those who wish to divide & conquer us.
- The "A" in LGBTQIA+ is for all queer As - like aromantic, asexual, agender..., not for allies.
- "Ally" is a verb, and others use it to describe what you do - not a badge you stick on yourself.
- Not everything that looks straight is straight, and might be hella queer!
- If you think queer people and relationships are "unsuitable for children", it means you sexualize them, not that they're inherently sexual.
- Your labels, your rules - their labels, their rules.
- It's "Pride" because shame is the weapon that is used against who we are and who we love.
- Queer people are people first.
- Be excellent to each other! #PrideMonth #Pride #Queer
The first video I saw doing that was Wannabe by the Spice Girls. And I really liked „one shot“ videos - until I learned to recognize the „invisible“ cuts. For me that ruined the effect - something you can not unlearn or unsee.
With that in mind: I like the music of the linked video - and of course of the Weid Al one too.
But unfortunately I feel (rather than see) the cuts in both videos. In the linked video there are so many that I can not really enjoy the visual part of it.
