Had a bit of a sad today thinking about the money it will cost to start on private care for HRT, and also having to deal with registering at my local GP surgery.
Brain went to me having to wait another year before getting on HRT and I couldn't shake that. Left me feeling pretty sad about myself for most of today.
as a warning word: without an endocrinologist and testing, you CAN have undesireable outcomes. A year is not an unrealistic prospect, tho my timeline was February this year beginning to prescribing in November. Private care assessment and Endo, NHS prescription (eventually) cost about £600 ish all in
oh. And a huge glaring warning. Do not use gendergp. I’m not saying they won’t give you a diagnosis or that they are shady. That doesn’t matter. But the NHS has all but blacklisted them. If you get a diagnosis from a gendergp doctor your GP will very likely not accept it. I recommende GenderDoctors instead. Their doctors are registered to practice medicine in the UK and are all NHS registered, most work at GIC clinics.
it’s not great. If you want who I used, I had dr Sahota for my assessment and dr Christine Mimnagh as my Endo. They are both lovely people who suck ass at responding to emails, but Sahota works at Tavistock GIC and Mimnagh is the clinical lead at at a Gender specialist clinic, it gives so much weight to their private consults when dealing with GP’s. Also Mimnagh is quite openly trans, it’s nice having your Endo invested in your care.
Remember you already are! (Remember you're a womble!) 🤗 I was about to say something about the practicalities of making your physical form fit your mental image, but then the words "physical form" made me remember the Inquisitor from Red Dwarf: "All that remains is to delete your physical form!" I keep being reminded of old stuff for some reason. :)
