Having a toilet cistern valve leak and having to keep the stop valve off most of the time, and flushing the loo by turning the stop valve on, letting it fill, turning off again and then flushing, makes you realise just how much clean, treated, disinfected, drinkable water we keep flushing into our sewers without even having the decency to filter it through our kidneys first.
