does anyone actually say that unironically who has any weight, or did I (thankfully) miss seeing any related comments along the same vein?

Like def true, I just see folks say something like this from time to time and it usually seems to be a reaction chain that after digging came from either someone misunderstanding a sarcastic comment someone else made or reacting to some hoity poputot saying something like that.

A furry (fan) is someone who like furries (anthropomorphic animals), and it's perfectly possible to like something without any visible evidence, so yeah, that kind of gatekeeping is stupid and wrong.
