A client sent me a "report" about an "incident" yesterday. What had actually happened was that nagios told me one of his VMs was nearly out of space and I let him know. I assume he then used chatGPT from that point on β he seems to be using it for everything now. The "report" wasβ¦ nearly unreadable, and in markdown with lots of headings and bold and italic which was a big clue that it just came straight out of chatGPT. Despite all those headings and things, it seems he (the client) and/or it (the LLM) found a huge 60+GB log file and truncated it. They also first noticed some log messages in there that suggested something was running out of space (duh) so he wants to look into that further (!). And that's pretty much it.
The "report", I finally realised, puts me in mind of something a 15 year old work experience student might proudly present to you, overly-fancily typeset, printed and put in a clear plastic folder with lots of headings and long words and much irrelevant detail in it, all to tell you something that could have been two sentences out loud.
*sigh*
