Well, I'm glad I charged the battery up to 85% at cheap rate overnight, but today is so dull and rainy it's just not going to last until tonight. It's below 50% already.

yup, we are struggling today. Just waiting for the Octopus Saving Session punchline... Still, it's an improvement over not having a battery at all!!

@Ret That an Agile tariff thing isn't it? I've been watching the agile prices for a week or two (agile.octopushome.net) but they look pretty consistently above the Flux prices (which would have been great over the summer but not so much now) so I'm probably going to stick with Flux for the time being. The allure of occasional negative pricing is strong though.

I’m on Octopus Go. Usual off peak pricing. But they occasionally send an email asking you to use less power for an hour later on in the evening (called a “Power Down” Saving Session). If you do that (use less than you usually do in that time slot) they credit you some small amount. If you normally use zero during that slot, exporting a small amount also satisfies the criteria. Currently (until November) they also reward you with an hour of free electricity on Sundays if you do this successfully twice a week.

Gosh, Octopus is a confusing provider…

@Ret Hmm, so Go has a longer and cheaper overnight cheap rate, but doesn't have the mid-rate Flux has — it's peak all the time it's not night rate. And you have to have an EV, it says? It's not clear if that's an actual requirement or just that that's what it's intended for. This is why I've just stuck with Flux; they have indeed made it complicated.

so the “you need an EV” thing… I mean we didn’t have an EV or a charger when we signed up and they didn’t check at all! We do now though.

Indeed Go is just two rates.

I looked at Flux but it worked out a bit more expensive when I did the modelling… maybe that’s different now though.

@Ret I don't know. I picked it last summer when I signed up and haven't changed yet. I haven't done any real "modelling" as such, just eyeballed it. Sadly I suspect I just don't have the energy and patience for any amount of rigor any more (if I ever did). I used to be able to do so much in my head I never got used to spending the time and effort to do anything complex enough that it wouldn't for in my head. Or something. I'm so tired.
