Did something I maybe should have done a long time ago and picked up a hand truck. I'm not entirely sure how much use I'll get out of it in the long run, but I'm thinking it may be very helpful during con packing/unpacking.

Downside is that it does take up cargo space as well.

They're super handy, especially if you don't live in a bottom floor apartment, or in a single story house. We have one here we got from one of my boyfriend's old jobs and it's really saved our butts being in a second floor apartment with only stairs.

@xoagray Are...are you suggesting bringing items up the stairs on the hand truck? That sounds a bit fraught to me.

I am. That said ours has runners on the back specifically for this. it was made to be able to go up stairs. There may be some that don't have that feature.

@xoagray

Apparently this can be used on stairs? I have some doubts, especially if I'm doing it solo.

I don’t know. Usually there are skids or on higher end models even tracks on the back of the handtruck for going up and down stairs. Here you can see me pointing at the skids on our handtruck. Also note the sturdy pipes they’re attached to. They’re meant to take the same weight as the wheels.

I have a little sack trolley that folds down flat (looks very much like this) and has been useful at the last few ConFuzzleds to get things between car and room. I've also taken to packing into plastic boxes which stack nicely, I can see what's inside them, are easy enough to move on the sack trolley and can remain stacked to save space in the room (the rooms there aren't at all spacious). So yeah, good call, I think!
