I learned about that at school. I still find it unreal that I actually saw Mount St Helens, and that it was just a normal thing for the people I was with when I saw it (because they lived in Portland). For me, volcanoes (and earthquakes, tornadoes, and many other things) have always been things that happen in exotic faraway places and never near me.
