I'd forgotten how good the mooks in Bolt are. That their uniforms work both as bike armour and also as generic evil henchman gear is a bonus. Yet another cosplay goal. Excellent.

I've started a folder on my laptop into which I can just dump pictures of suits I want. Maybe, as a fairly low-friction way to build a list, that'll finally give me a bit of a comprehensive reference! To start it off:
One of Calico's foot-soldiers from Bolt. They're fully covered in an all-black (except for a couple of little yellow logos and some thin yellow accent markings) skin-tight suit with gloves, boots, body armour and a black helmet with a dark visor. They're standing in a large room of a brutalist-style concrete facility and have just picked up a coin from the floor and are examining it, while a second grunt looks on from the background.
One of Calico's minions pointing a big hand-held sci-fi-style weapon at Bolt, who looks like he's about to do his trademark laser eyes thing.

Okay, Xeniataur's going in the folder. As is this other very nicely edited photo from ages ago (Kartfox, 2015). (This one's not the specific character(s), but the body shape/species/idea. I really want to make a good taur suit someday. I have Ideasโ„ข.)

Oh, oh, gotta add the OG white armour. These guys used to occupy my thoughts a *lot* when I was young. I mean, A LOT.

Some of those thoughts were regarding the question of whether they were robots or not. Others were more to do with whether the armour even came off or if it was permanent. (After all, we never saw them without it.)

Andโ€ฆ not only when I was young. Nope.

I donโ€™t think we saw a stormtrooper take his helmet off until Finn in โ€˜The Force Awakensโ€™, although Luke and Han stole some armour in the 1977 film so evidently it came off the guys they ambushed easily enough.
But maybe thereโ€™s some specialist units ( Tie Fighter pilots maybe ) where they get sealed in permanently ;)
I was more about the droids :)

Oh yes, General Mayhem. I took a whole bunch of screenshots of this one when I first watched Lego 2!

Mayhem seems to have a bunch of fan art around the place.

Have I mentioned Murderbot yet? No, it looks like I haven't mentioned Murderbot yet. I should mention Murderbot.

Honestly, this one is a bit odd because there's no canonical description of Murderbot's armour, at least in any detail, so it could look like anything. These book covers make it look rather nice though.

Not 100% sure about Megaman โ€” eyes showing really isn't my thing. But otherwise a pretty nice suit.
Cartoon Megaman in a ready pose, with a blue helmet with gold accents covering the whole head except for the eyes, and a dark blue body suit with gold pauldrons on the shoulders and a white stripe down each side. There's a thick disc-shaped logo stuck on the chest and an arm-cannon covering one entire forearm.
Megaman again, but in a more dynamic pose.

Ooh, which reminds me, Samus Aran! Definitely another one for the suit folder!
Samus Aran in her Power Suit. A full suit of metalic plate armour with a red helmet, neck and chest, glowing green visor, blue shoulders aand legs, grey body and arms. One arm has an armoured glove, while the other is fully encased from the elbow down inside her arm cannon.
Samus in her Varia Suit, which is pretty similar but in different colours โ€” mostly gold with red helmet and chest โ€” and the pauldrons on the shoulders are *much* bigger.
