I know I keep saying this, but in the UK this is not necessarily true. Only a few people in the UK *can* get vaccinated against Covid-19. Most aren't eligible for vaccination on the NHS, and private vaccination (as far as I'm aware) still isn't available yet. You can pay for a flu jab, but not a covid jab.

This is completely absurd. Covid is significantly more dangerous than flu, circulating almost uncontrolled, while safe, effective vaccines exist. But most people aren't *allowed* to have them, *even* if they are willing to pay.

"Hi, if you are reading this essay then congratulations, you are still alive. And if you are alive, then you have either gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, or you still have the opportunity to get the vaccine against COVID-19. And holy fuck, if you aren’t fucking vaccinated against COVID-19, then you need to get fucking vaccinated right now. I mean, what the fuck?"

Warning, there are a few other F-bombs. But she has some valid points!

is vaccine tourism a thing yet for people in the UK?

@Alopex No idea. Partly I think yes, surely it would be. But part of me thinks hardly anyone would, because we've all been taught to believe the pandemic's over, covid's barely worse than a cold, long covid isn't a disabling condition, and it's not worth worrying about. And the Brexit messaging says FOREIGN = BAD. Plus you'd have to be able to afford an overseas trip (except Northern Ireland maybe, depending on Ireland's vaccination policies), so it wouldn't even be an option for some people.

Some enterprising person should start Vaccine Cruises, just far enough offshore to enter international waters and then you can jab people who want to pay for the privilege.

This would also remove any complication of going to another country and dealing with that country's limitations/regulations.

Had this conversation with someone the other day... it ended with "Well nobody's making you go to our event, it's a privilege"... I asked "my country won't let me get it, are there any private vaccine providers in your area?" ... so I guess I was already engaging in vaccine tourism!
