@einalex For me, in the uk, it’s harder to feel more than just ‘not-negative’ when the government of the last 14 years - and likely at least the next 5 - uses those taxes on self enrichment, further inequality, and endless promises of further cuts to public services 😕
I’d love to be in a country with the power to make taxation always feel like it fuels actually helping society.

Massachusetts taxed the rich. Now they have an extra $1.8 billion to spend. In November 2022 voters approved a 4% tax on incomes over $1 million. The state can now use that money on free public school meals, free community college, and public transit.

@einalex Yeah, here is Scotland what is devolved has meaningful differences to UK policy, and is generally progressive in a way I’m happy to contribute towards. It’s just the rest is a bit… shit

Had heard about that new tax in Massachusetts and it seems great. Who knew good policy was a good idea!?
