payment processors definitely should be treated as a public good and not a private company who can just do whatever the fuck they want, since their ability to arbitrarily decide to limit what payments can be processed (limiting sex work, and now apparently just asking for donations??) is absolutely bullshit
it is also highly suspicious that Stripe is outright forbidding donations and "content creation" on their platform while supporting the VC-backed startup "Buy Me a Coffee," which is clearly an attempt to scam Ko-fi, Liberapay, etc. out of their business model. if anyone in the US actually cared about enforcing anti-trust laws, this would clearly be off the table.
and, Stripe is still allowing donations and content creation through Patreon and GitHub sponsors as well, again, making it clear that they just want to eliminate competition rather than just avoid "risky businesses"
