WELP THAT'S THE END OF THAT I'M DONE! :cacoorbno2:

Raspberry Pi is now a publicly traded company. The #enshittificaton can only vastly accelerate at this point.

All right, Chooms, time to find alternatives!

I warned people about the cop loving money chasing binary blob booting closed source fake charity and how people shouldve supported beaglebone since i stopped being able to find schematics but they were all, "no, you're overreacting" so you can bet your arse i'm rolling out a big "I fuckin' warned ya" banner for everyone.

Arduino? Beaglebone? I can't solder to save my life, but even I've heard of some of those microcontroller boards.
@cy But for a SBC that can run a full on operating system like a Linux or a BSD or 9front, a Banana Pi, Orange Pi, RockPi, Pine64, or anything else would be the better choice.

@cy If you just need something like a small server or workstation, and don't need the GPIO, don't discount thin clients. I've got a couple HP ones that work well and only use a few watts most of the time.

Yeah, I got a netbook for cheap that's great for writing stories on and not much else, which is great. Not a lot of soldering involved though, and Google kind of enshittified netbooks a while back so they can be a bit of a minefield. Mine, I was instructed not to install sound card drivers as the card is known to catch on fire if you're not using Microsoft.
@cy @toroidalcore I have an old Asus Eee PC 1005HAB that runs the latest Damn Small Linux and works great as a lightweight machine for small tasks.

I had an Eee PC once, could never find one again. The darn thing couldn't handle X, but console mode emacs worked great. My latest is some HP junk Chromebook ripoff.
